| The Abandoned Tunnels[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]These tunnels were started by Dwarfs in the beginning, though were never completed. The project was abandoned when the Elves that were native to the region raised an outcry, saying that their abuse of the earth would bring evil upon them all. In this, they were half-right. Evil was spawned from the fertile realm of Sylvia, but it was not the fault of the Dwarfs. Amkral Night-Walker, now known as The Shadow, originated from this bountiful land from a complex of human-wrought evils and internal suffering because of them. The tunnels have since been an object of fascination and curiosity ever since they were abandoned, but no one has ever tried to expand them further or reconnect them to other Dwarfish tunnels. Instead, children play and explore them and they remain juts another feature of their landscape. Only one Clan of Elves lives within relative proximity to the tunnels however, the Adgenarga Clan is a relatively peaceful Clan and are largely hunters and gathers, though they do live in semi-permanent dwellings. A people that are always prepared for the worst, conversation can sometimes be depressing because they usually look to the dark side of things before anything else. However, they tend to be excellent strategists and often over-estimate their foes. Dangerous at the best of times, the young begin training to become warriors at six and earn their name at fourteen after doing an act of valor. The Winding River[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The Winding River, for that is what it is called, really does wind through Sylvia and is a continuation of the River Dedscio in Paludem. Because Scopulous is too hot to be able to maintain itself, it starts up again once the surface temperatures cool down, providing fresh water through the heart of the realm and out. The river starts out as little more than a trickle when it first begins and steadily widens and deepens as it enters the shade of the trees. Fish are abundant here and the four main Elf Clans that live along its banks have adapted excellent strategies for hunting them in deep water. The Aalkertimbe, Rurulfids, Eikislara, and Altra Clans are all on friendly terms with each other, though tempers sometimes flare over intrusions onto hunting grounds. Despite this, the discourse rarely comes to blows. These Clans tend to be open-minded and hard to anger. Their council is good, but they have a tendency to take matters too lightly and dislike having to look at the dark side of things and will usually go out of their way to avoid bringing up heavy material. The Dark Forest[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The Dark Forest is just that; dark. The branches are so thick and intertwining that sunlight rarely reaches the ground. The animals that live here and quick and silent, confident but rarely seen. Only one Clan lives in this great stretch of forest; the Clan that The Shadow was born to - Eimarmist. While The Shadow was still young and still went by his warrior name of Night-Walker, laughter still filled the so silent wood. Minds full of horror of what had come out of them though, they turned darker, more serious. While committed against evil in all forms, they are wary of strangers, hostile, and prefer to stay out of site. Uncovering their village is hard enough, finding one of their number is harder still. It would take a dedicated soul a painfully long time to earn their trust. Tharlacolf, The Human City[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Tharlacoff was the first city in the realms to be completely inhabited by humans. By Elfish standards, it is relatively young, not even having seen a full century. The humans that live here are constantly with clashing with Elves in bloody and savage rivalries over the forests which stretch across the realm. The humans see the trees as nothing but a resource that they need to take advantage of and the Elves view them as a part of them that is older than reason. Tensions run high and hostility is tremendous. Few Elves manage to be granted access into or through the city any more and trade has been cut off with the Elfin trades from other regions as well. No one knows when open war will eventually break out, but it cannot be that far away and the humans of the city would be easy for The Shadow to manipulate for his own use. | |
