Name: Ro'car Jholo

Age: 27

Gender: Male

Eye Color: Deep Brown

Hair: Black, cut just longer than a buzz cut. He is usually unshaven, but cannot grow a beard.

Skin Color: Medium tan

Height: 5' 11''

Physical Description: He is wiry and lean, from his childhood riding horses and his focus on mid-range combat. His face is angular due to a combination of poor diet and his ancestry.

Personality: Cautious, but decisive and remorseless in battle. Also, he is somewhat selfish and can be impolite at times.

Parentage:

•Mother: The carefree daughter of a horse breeder. Deceased due to alcohol poisoning.

•Father: A laid back man, and a mildly successful hunter. Deceased due to alcohol poisoning.

Realm of Origin: A wild, steppe region of Sylvia.

Animal Companion(Optional): A tan stallion named Fahlo. He is used to roaming the open plains, and dislikes rocky, mountainous trails.

Talents: horsemanship, ranged combat, negotiation/haggling

Weapon*: Whip, two throwing axes, 12 throwing knives. He keeps a bow attached to his saddle when he goes hunting.

Flaws**: unable to trust others, inconsiderate and abrasive, very proud (doesn't accept pity or aid)

Powers(Optional): None

Backstory***: He was the member of a once prolific tribe of nomads, living isolated from other civilizations. When they happened upon a modern village, the tribe became instantly obsessed with the worldly delights it contained. Espeically alcohol. Unwilling and unable to provide for their son, his parents drank themselves to death when he was 13. Through sheer luck, Ro'car managed to leave the town with a few mementos of his tribe (his whip, axes, and horse), and survives on a combination of hunting and mercenary work.

Roleplay Example***: Ro'car inverted the leather pouch he used to keep money, and looked with disgust at the single copper coin that fell onto the table. Just a single night at an inn had cost him the final portion of the advance money that was meant to last him until his job was done.

Ro'car was supposed to be hunting down some merchant, and the pay for the job would last him for half a year. However, he knew that he would never see a single penny of the reward. No matter how good of a fee you negotiate, you can't earn money trying to hunt down someone who can't be found. Ro'car didn't enjoy assassinations, and riding across all of Sylvia searching for his target did nothing to change his mind.

He knew that his client would already be suspicious. Of course, if you tell a mercenary to kill your enemy, and then weeks later you still haven't heard word of either of them, there is a strong chance that the assassin was bought off. The only way to remedy such a solution was to find the mercenary, torture them, and then leave their body in the canal.

Ro'car retreated to the outskirts of town, where he found Fahlo still hitched to a tree on the edge of the meadow. He quicly fitted the saddle onto the horse's back, and prepared to ride for his life.

PostSubject: Shard (second character)   Wrathanet's Characters I_icon_minitimeThu Aug 02, 2012 6:03 pm

Name: Shard Raolofsdottir (very few actually know her surname)

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Eye Color: Glacier blue

Skin Color: Pale, but not quite deathly white due her sensitivity to sunlight

Hair: Straw Blonde, stiff and straight, upper back length

Height: 5'

Physical Description: Very slender, tends to wear a sheepskin tunic and trousers under whatever bits of armor she can find (a shoulder pauldron here, a chainmail skirt there, that sort of thing).

Personality: Can be self-absorbed at times, but genuinely cares for people who take the great effort to show her kindness and get to know her. Sometimes, she assumes that she knows what is best for other people, but will occasionally listen to those she knows well.

Mortal Parent: Raolof Jagersson, a forester in the very northern reaches of Lapidem. Once warm and carefree, after his 'wife' left, he became aloof and unconcerned with even his own daughter.

Legacy of(Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Spirit): She is the daughter of an Ice Elemental (I know it's not an established legacy, but maybe we could give it a try?). Unlike most elemantal/mortal pairings, Shard's mother stayed with her father for years, in secret. The other men at the logging camp discovered her when Shard was only 14, and she was immediately chased out. Shard never knew what happened to her mother, and her only farewell present was hearthsbane. Almost immediately, she set out, searching for the ice elemental.

Realm of Origin: Lapidem, natch.

Animal Companion(Optional): A gargantuan polar bear, Ursa, that Shard happened to encounter while trying to cross a frozen lake. Shard fell through a thin spot in the ice, and Ursa dove in to save her. Ursa treats Shard like a daughter, and can be over-protective at times.

Talents: She can withstand temperatures far below freezing, and is very quick and agile. She also tends to go unnoticed by others unless she makes herself known or is being followed by Ursa, allowing her to eavesdrop on conversations easily.

Weapon*: A small, blue-steel dagger called hearthsbane: It extinguishes any fire immediately surrounding it (it can divert a mage's flames, but cannot stop the spell itself unless it is thrown and hits the mage's hands).

Flaws**: She burns and dehydrates very easily, and is not exceptionally strong physically. As mentioned before, she tends to ignore the opinions of others. She is still somewhat immature, having no strong mentor to guide her. Because she is so vulnerable to fire, it is her greatest fear.

Powers(Must relate to Elemental parent): Can freeze any existing water nearby her, and can compress and shape moisture into ice as well. The further away she attempts to form ice from herself, or the further away she attempts to propel any ice she has formed, the more strain she experiences.

Backstory***: Since leaving her childhood home, she has become somewhat of a notorious adventurer, delving into long-forgotten crypts and retreiving artifacts rumored to hold great power. Most of them were just old rotten axes and cudgels, but the locals were gullible enough, so she has been able to live a comfortable life. Her travels with Ursa have led her from Lapidem all the way to Sylvia. However, due to the firey nature of Sopulous, she has yet to visit that land.

Roleplay Example***: Shard spied a sturdy set of boots on the shelf of the merchant's store. Her current shoes were so worn she swore she could feel the grains of dirt below her feet.

Shard pointed to the footwear in question, and shouted at the shopkeeper: "How much for the boots?"

"What does a little girl like you need these boots for? More importantly, why are you wearing mail? Does your father know you're here?" the shopkeeper replied.

"I don't think he cares, seeing as I haven't seen him in two years," Shard replied cooly, "How much. For. The boots?"

"For you? Fifty gold."

Shard knew they were worth thirty, at most. She quickly turned around, and walked out of the shop, the shopkeeper's disapproving glare following her out hte door. Out in the town square, she saw Ursa. Unfortunately, the bear had yet again attracted attention. Two guards were shouting at eachother, swords drawn, with Ursa growling at them just a dozen feet away. Shard walked across the plaza, up to the men, and tapped them on the shoulder.

"The bear is with me." she interjected.

The guards heads whiplashed back and forth between the slight girl and her enormous companion, their eyes wide as owls'. Shard put her hand on the polar bear's hand, and walked away from the guards. Ursa took the opportunity to growl once more at the shocked guards, before following Shard.
