Chimaeras-

CODE OF CHIMAERAS:
1. When meeting a Chimaera who does not know it’s name, tell its name immediately.
2. Only mate with other Chimaeras, and mate for life. If your mate dies, do not get another. You must be at least 230 to mate, unless you have less than twelve shapes, in which case you must be 50.
3. Unless mates, Chimaeras must remain solitary.
4. Treat other Chimaeras with respect whether older or younger.
5. You may only attack another creature (Chimaeras included) for food or self defense.
6. Chimaeras will not be slaves to another species.
7. Do not speak of your Death Point.
8. You must revert to your original species at least once a week in order to remain healthy.
9. Reveal yourself to be a Chimaera to as few beings as possible. If you tell more than 30 people, you will have broken this rule.
10. When any of these rules are broken, the criminal Chimaera will be hunted down and captured without mercy. Each of their shapes will be stripped away until the Chimaera is an ordinary creature in its original form, and then released again. The process is extremely slow and painful.
11. The rules laid down will never change. If someone attempts to, they will die. New rules may be added, but only by the Elder Chimaera (The oldest Chimaera in existence) and they must not contradict the original rules.

Information on Chimaeras:

Names: Each Chimaera has only one name. By this I mean that it will not have a last or middle name, only a first. Each Chimaera is the only Chimaera with its name (i.e. there will not be two Chimaeras named Larry)

Ages: Each Chimaera has the added lifespan of all of the creatures it can shift into.

Parents and Birth: When a Chimaera is born, it automatically knows that it is a Chimaera and is often abandoned by the parents. The powers are not hereditary. A Chimaera can be born as any creature, although they are often born human.

Socializing: Chimaeras are naturally solitary creatures, and due to many bad instances are forbidden to travel together unless mates. You have probably met many Chimaeras and not known it, for they often walk into towns and stay in hotels and such, although no-one knows where they find the money, for few have been known to get jobs under other species.

Shifting: Depending on the Chimaera, a Chimaera can have anywhere from three to a thousand different shapes to shift into. Some Chimaera shift mainly into plants, and many into only animals, but most have a little of both. None of their shapes can be inanimate. They will usually take a few of their original features into every shape they take.

How to Kill a Chimaera: Each Chimaera has only one weak spot, and that spot is unique to every Chimaera. It is forbidden to speak of your weak spot. It is referred to by Chimaeras as their “Death Point”.

Kitsunes-

Different species of Kitsune: Zenko, Yanko and Ninko

Zenko:
  • Zenko are benevolent creatures and are physically incapable of doing evil.
  • Zenko are forbidden to kill. They do not kill for sport, for food, or for self-defense. They do not kill. This includes all forms of life, even plants and bugs.
  • Zenko are healers, able to heal any injury. They can also use their abilities to clean polluted air and water. However they cannot raise the dead.

Yanko:
  • Yanko are mischievous, even malevolent creatures.
  • Yanko are tricksters with motives that vary from harmless pranks to evil and malevolence.
  • Yanko usually play their pranks and trickery on greedy merchants, boastful commoners, unfair tradesmen, or cruel royalty. However, the more cruel Yankos have no problems tormenting poor farmers and peasants.

Ninko:
  • Ninko are banished Kitsunes who have been stripped of their abilities and must possess and live off of their victims in order to survive.
  • Ninko are neither bad, nor good.

Kitsune Information:

General: Kitsunes are nine-tailed fox spirits. This does not mean that they are ghosts. The term "spirit" simply means that they possess long life, magical abilities, and superior intelligence. Kitsunes are noted for having at least nine tails. A Kitsune with more than nine tails is an older, wiser much more powerful fox. Kitsunes will only grow more tails after they have lived for at least 100 years. When a Kitsune has lived for more than 100 years, its fur becomes white, silver or gold. These magical creatures feed off of mana, or life energy that comes from the sun, the moon, the stars, plants, any and all living things.

Language: Kitsunes can speak all languages. Be it a human or an animal language.

Shifting: Kitsunes are able to shape shift into human form, an ability learned when they reach a certain age, usually 100 years. They most commonly take of the shape of beautiful women, young girls, or old men. These human forms are not limited by age or gender and Kitsune has the ability to duplicate the appearance of a specific person. They are particularly renown for impersonating beautiful women; if a person were to encounter a woman alone, usually at dusk or night, it is almost defiantly a Kitsune. They cannot take the shape of any other creature, however, except for humans. Kitsunes cannot shape shift during the day.

Talents: Kitsunes are masters of the mind, having the ability to create illusions visions.

Forbidden Actions: Kitsunes are forbidden to willingly reveal their true fox forms to humans. Doing this will get a Kitsune stripped of its power and; thus, turned into a Ninko.

Human-Kitsune Encounters: If a human sees a Kitsune in its fox form, the human will be blessed. On the flip side, they also have the ability to curse those who do wrong to them.

Other Magical Creatures: Kitsunes often use Will-O'-the-Wisps to lead their victims.

*Legend says that if one were to kill a Kitsune, whether be Zenko or Yanko, the person would be transformed into an animal and doomed to suffer a thousand years of torment and that says helping an injured Kitsune will give a human magical powers.

Leshies-

THE LESHY BOND:
1. A Leshy is bound to serve and defend his forest and animals until the day he dies.
2. A Leshy must treat its fellows with due honor and respect.
3. Under any circumstances, a Leshy must not reveal his true name to an outsider.
4. Unless asked for, a Leshy cannot reveal a mortal's true name to them.
5. The killing of any plant or animal is forbidden with no exceptions.
6. A Leshy may only kill a traveler if the stranger strikes first and if there is no other alternative.
7. It is forbidden to mate with a part-Leshy.
8. If a Leshy attempts to help an Exiled One or refuses to kill them, they too, must be exiled.
9. It is forbidden to interfere directly in the affairs of mortals. To do so would result in immediate exile.
10. A Leshy must follow these rules. If a Leshy refuses to do so, he will be exiled.
11. If exiled, the one exiled must never return to their forest. The penalty for doing so is immediate termination.

Information on Leshies:

Humanoid Appearance: Leshies have blue skin and their hair and beards are made from living plants and vines. Two horns grow from behind their ears and start to point slightly forward once they clear the head. They prefer to take the form of a young man or an old man, and, in both forms, are taller than the average human. In their native forests, they can make themselves as tall as the tallest tree, but as soon as they take a step out, they can be no higher than a Dwarf. They never wear hats or belts and, when wearing shoes, they always point backwards.

Animals: Leshies are guardian spirits and are especially close to Gray Wolves, but also take company with great bears. When one comes across a Leshy, they are usually with one of these animals. When not humanoid, they prefer to take the shapes of these animals.

Shifting: Leshies primarily take the forms of great wolves, bears, or ancient trees. They can shift into whatever form they please, so long as the creature or plant is native to their forest. Their transformations come with great ease and come so quickly that the human eye cannot truly register the transformation. It merely looks like the Leshy vanished and left a plant or animal behind that wasn't there before.

Names: Leshies are forbidden to reveal their true name to a non-Leshy. If asked for their name, they will reply with an evasive question or comment, giving an alias or the name of a plant, but they are also known to simply vanish back into the forest if asked. Afterwards, the unfortunate person will likely get hopelessly lost in the forest. However, they have been known to give other creatures knowledge of their true names if they are asked, but only if.

Age: Being woodland spirits, Leshies have the potential to live forever. However, if their native forest is destroyed, they will eventually fade away and die. A Leshy can only be killed by another Leshy.

Language: Speaking the the Language of Fantastical Creatures, their words can be understood by all that hear it. They rarely speak, but when they do, their voices mimic the sound of the wind rustling over head, the song of a bird, or are low and deep and remind one of the earth.

Socializing: Leshies are solitary by nature and prefer little to no interaction with other humanoids, spending most of their time with the plants, animal, and birds that they are sworn to protect. They are trickers and will lead travelers off their correct path by planting false images in their minds that make them think that the trees have shifted, that a dangerous animal faces them, or something of the like. Their overarching purpose is to lure them deeper into the forest.

Parents and Offspring: Leshies are male spirits and, consequently, only their male offspring will be born as Leshies. If the child has a drop of Leshie blood in his veins, he will be born pure Leshy. There can be no in between for their sons. Their female children and descendants, however, are not nearly so lucky. They are often wild and difficult to control and while they usually remain peaceful, their tempers are terrible and they are very defensive. Often, they feel trapped in human society and flee to the safety of the woods where they feel truly at home. As adults, these women are forever trapped between two worlds and eventually retreat to the safety and shelter of their true homes: the forest where their father spirit is native to, often becoming wise-women and healers. They have extended lifespans and age slower than the average human once they hit their late adolescent years. Leshies do not mate with these Halflings and will only chose pure-blood humans.

Human Interaction: Guardians and protectors, Leshies are peaceful spirits and very difficult to anger. They often make agreements with farmers or townspeople to protect their herds or crops if the people, in turn, will leave his forest in peace. If one is kind to a Leshy, they will reward them by giving advice, healing them, or showing the person the way out of the forest. They are slow to anger, but if one unnecessarily slays an animal or kills a tree, their anger is aroused and the Leshy will not rest until the person is duly punished. However, they have a rigid sense of honor and will only do unto the unfortunate what they deserve and no more. If one encounters a Leshy in the forest, they should turn their clothes backwards and inside out and rotate their shoes to point the opposite direction immediately, for this will so confuse the Leshy into not leading them astray because he will not know what their true direction really is.

Pookas-

Information on Pookas:

Language: Pookas speak in the Language of Fantastical Creatures and their voices have the tendency to sound mischievous or sly when they speak. Their voices do not express emotion.

Names: Pookas are known by a wide variety of names that included but are not limited to: Black Dog, Bogart, Bucca, Demon, Púca, Puck, Raven, Shuck, and Thunderbird. A Pooka is born with an innate knowledge of its true name, though it will never reveal it, even to other Pookas for names have power. Instead, they rely on the person to recognize them for what they are and to refer to them in whatever name they know them by.

Age: Able to live for centuries, Pookas will show no signs of aging once they reach adulthood. It is impossible to tell exactly how old a Pooka is, especially since they do not count time in the same way that people do. They find it insulting if and when some foolish person asks for its age and uses it as an excuse to terrorize them.

Socializing: While Pookas are considered benevolent, they are great trickers and tend to hold other creatures in contempt. More than anything, they like to pose as a sleek, black horse with a flowing mane and take people on wild rides in the dead of night. At the end of the ride, the unfortunate rider is usually thrown into a bog or swamp and the Pooka thunders down the way it came, leaving them alone and stranded. If blackberries suddenly become overripe, it is a sign that a Pooka has befouled them and they are unsafe to eat. During the harvest, peasants should always leave some of their bounty unharvested for the Pooka or suffer the consequences. However, they have also been known to aid people and will sometimes protect their families if they please them. When evil is to strike, they will often warn people of the impending danger well before it strikes. They are solitary creatures and will interact with people for the purposes or terrorizing them or for their own amusement.

Shifting: In their natural state, Pookas are actually humanoid but rarely choice to take that form. Instead, their dominant form is that of a huge, sleek black horse with a flowing mane and glowing eyes. Pookas also like to take the forms of large black dogs, shaggy sheep, goats, rabbits, goblins, and eagles. No matter what form they take on, their fur or feathers always remain dark. If one sees an abnormally large animal, chances are that it is likely a Pooka in disguise. They can shift with ease and the swiftness of a lightning strike. Since they are shapeshifters, they can make their coloration mimic that of their surroundings, appearing invisible.

Emotion: Pookas are unable to express emotion or think like a person. What they find sad, happy, or angering is often the polar opposite of how a human would regard the occasion. They will often delight in bloodshed or carnage or weep over joy. For example, they might laugh at a funeral or cry at a wedding. They are almost completely apathetic to human suffering, only able to take it in, but not understand it as pain or suffering. Sometimes, a Pooka will become strangle attached to one person and will make themselves appear invisible to all others except for that one person. Dedicated to the soul, they will protect them and keep them safe from harm. If the person sees them, they will often believe them to be imaginary due to the fact that no one else knows that they are there.

Selkies-

Information on Selkies:

Appearance: In seal form, Slekies have distinctly human eyes. Their fur is dark and sleek and they are seldom seen out of the water in this form. Scars or personal traits will follow them into every form they take, enabling them to distinguish each other. When the females shed their pelts, they take the forms of beautiful women. Men who gaze upon them often fall head over heels in love,, and will stop at nothing to steal their pelts and make them their own. Males are carelessly handsome, but take far more care when they leave the water. Because of this, their men are seldom caught by humans in the same way that females are prone to.

Language: Selkies are unable to speak in the Language of Fantastical Creatures, though they can certainly understand it. Instead, they speak in the language of humans and their kind.

Names: Selkies are born knowing their true names and instantly know the true names of others of their kind without having to be told. Their names are held in high reverence and are not shared with other species, no exceptions. Instead, they use a common given name and only use their true names in extreme circumstances. The Selkies believe that a name holds power over the individual, and that the more a name is used it becomes worn out and loses its magic.

Age: Selkies live about the same duration as the average human, though they show little physical signs of their years and age very gracefully. Even in old age, Selkies retain their youthful beauty.

Socializing: Selkies are very social creatures, though the females tend to be more interactive than males. Male Selkies seldom leave the ocean and are best well known for destroying ships that have harmed seals in vengeance for the slaughter of their kin. They tend to be moody and restless, never wanting to stay in one place for long. If a woman is dissatisfied with her marriage, a male Selkie will often seek her out to comfort her and make her happy again. If a woman wants a Selkie for a husband, all she has to do is shed seven tears into the ocean. Female Selkies are far more social and careless, and they often lose their pelts to humans through their own carelessness and willingness to trust. While she will always long for the sea, she will remain a faithful wife until her pelt is rediscovered.

Shifting: Selkies can shift into their seal form only if they have possession of their pelts. If a human steals it, the Selkie is bound to that human either until the pelt is returned to them or it is discovered. Nothing can keep a Selkie from their true home once they are free.

Parents and Birth: Selkies make excellent spouses due to the fact that they are bound to the human that stole their pelts. No human can compare when set beside a Selkie, for they remain faithful, obedient, kind, empathetic, trustworthy, and hardworking throughout marriage, even though they always long for the sea in their hearts. The children of a Selkie and a humanoid pair will take on the identity of the non-Selkie. The offspring will constantly feel an inexplicable yearning for the sea, and some are born with webbed fingers and toes. They can usually swim without having to be taught. While the human partner will be extremely proud of having a Selkie partner, they are also bitterly ashamed of loving someone so obviously different and will go to great lengths to hide their true identities.
